Endnote

If you are writing multiple or longer texts, it is a good idea to use a special program to collect and automatically insert references and create bibliography lists. Endnote is a program that the university provides free of charge to students. You download the program to your computer. Endnote is compatible with Microsoft Word, which you can also access through the university.

Follow the instructions in the guide below to set up your Endnote library correctly. There you will also find tips on how to use the program and its integration with Word.

Referencing guide for Vancouver

Regardless of whether you use a program like Endnote, it can be helpful to have a reference guide to rely on. The Karolinska Institutet Library has created a guide for citations and bibliography lists according to the Vancouver style. It is useful to use as a template when writing your academic texts. The reference guide is based on the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

From PubMed to Vancouver reference

This is how you convert a PubMed-reference into Vancouver-style:

  • In PubMed- go to the article that you want to cite
  • Click "Cite"
  • Choose Format > NLM
  • You can now copy and paste the reference into your document

Remember! This is the base of the reference. There may be variations at Malmö University - you should check what is applicable to your programme or institution.
